Boston Submits Comments on Tennesee Pipeline Project to FERC

The City of Boston has asked FERC to require Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. to evaluate the link between the increase in pipeline capacity resulting from its Essex-Middlesex project and LNG vessel traffic to the Everett LNG terminal before the Commission issues a decision on the plan. In comments submitted June 23, James Hunt, the chief of environmental and energy services for Boston, said that the city’s goal is to eventually eliminate all LNG vessel traffic in Boston Harbor; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;”>. “By regionalizing the LNG infrastructure planning,” Hunt said, “FERC can balance the national security interests, including the city of Boston’s call to reduce and ultimately cease all LNG shipments through Boston Harbor, with the clear need to increase capacity in the region.” Hunt’s comments may be found in the FERC library in Docket No. CP06-18. SNL Interactive has the story.
