Sempra Reports “Strong” Shipper Interest in Energia Costa Azul Terminal

In its recent open season, Sempra LNG says it received non-binding bids totaling 2.9 Bcf/d from prospective shippers who are seeking capacity at the company’s 1 Bcf/d Energia Costa Azul LNG facility, in Baja California, Mexico. Sempra’s open season sought bids for approximately 1.5 Bcf/day to match the company’s intent to expand the regasification terminal to 2.5 Bcf/d. “We certainly are pleased with the strong market interest in our facility and look forward to finalizing commercial agreements,” said Darcel Hulse, president of Sempra LNG. The terminal is scheduled to come online in 2008.
