FERC Solicits Comments on Proposed Timetable for Natural Gas Projects
As authorized by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, FERC has proposed a rule for scheduling agency decisions on, and maintaining a consolidated record for, natural gas projects. FERC Chairman Joseph Kelliher said the proposed rule is intended to facilitate the development of domestic natural gas infrastructure. Kelliher also emphasized that the new rule would not undermine the influence of the agencies, adding that “the only change is that now the Commission has authority to establish reasonable time frames…to ensure timely completion of proceedings on applications for authorization of new gas infrastructure.” Interested parties may submit comments on the proposed rule in Docket No. R06-1-000 in the FERC e-Library.
