Fate of Bear Head Terminal Uncertain as Search for LNG Supply Continues
Anadarko Petroleum has yet to secure a long-term supply contract for its Bear Head LNG terminal in Nova Scotia, making the project’s fate uncertain. “If we find in the coming months that the right supply arrangement for us does not exist, then we will probably move to mothball that facility unless somebody walked in with an extremely attractive price and wanted to buy it from us,” said Al Walker, Anadarko’s chief financial officer. The company had hoped to find a supplier by the end of 2005, but announced in March that it was slowing the pace of construction on the terminal while pursuing talks with prospective suppliers.
