Editorial: Regional Siting of LNG Terminals Is Sensible

An editorial in yesterday’s Portland Press Herald says that in determining where LNG facilities should be placed, federal regulators should adopt a regional approach, conducting a comprehensive assessment that evaluates an area’s overall need and ability to support infrastructure. Recognizing that New England “needs at least one more LNG terminal,” the editorial expresses concern that the current site-by-site approach may lead to siting decisions based on politics instead of on the best location and greatest need.
