ConocoPhillips says it will not modify the design of its open-loop Beacon Port LNG terminal planned offshore Louisiana, despite Gov. Kathleen Blanco’s rejection of an open-loop proposal on Friday. “We still believe that open-loop vaporization is a proven technology and an environmentally sound technology,” said ConocoPhillips spokesperson Bill Tanner. He also said that the company plans to implement measures designed to reduce the potential impact on aquatic life, such as locating intake pipes in areas where there are lower concentrations of marine organisms.
