Canadian Official Vows to Continue Fight Against Maine LNG Terminals

Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson reiterated the Canadian government’s opposition to LNG tankers transiting Canadian waters to reach LNG terminals planned for Maine. “We consider Head Harbour Passage internal Canadian waters, sovereign territory, and our position was to not allow the transport of LNG tankers through Head Harbour Passage for all the reasons that you know of,” Thomson said at a dinner held by the New Brunswick Southwest Conservative Association on Saturday. Quoting Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Thompson said that Canada will use “every legal and diplomatic means to defend that position.” Yesterday’s Saint Croix Courier has the story, which is archived at Save Passamaquoddy Bay’s website.
