Weaver’s Cove Alleges Fall River Not Cooperating on ERP

In a March 30 letter from Weaver’s Cove to Fall River’s Mayor Edward Lambert, Weaver’s Cove alleges that Fall River is refusing to participate in the emergency response planning (ERP) process mandated by FERC’s recent approval of the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal. The letter, which FERC released today, states that Weaver’s Cove has attempted on multiple occasions to contact Fall River’s emergency planning department by telephone and by letter to prepare for the development of the ERP, but that the city’s Emergency Management Director has been “directed not to meet with Weaver’s Cove.” Weaver’s Cove asserts that “unless you advise us otherwise, we will assume that the City is refusing to participate in the development of the ERP,” and requests that Fall River reconsider its position. In the letter to Mayor Lambert, Weaver’s Cove affirms its willingness to incorporate the city’s emergency planning staff in the ERP process if Fall River changes its position. The letter can be found in the FERC e-Library in docket CP04-36.
