Marine Engineers Beneficial Association Endorses Cabrillo Port Plan
The Marine Engineers Beneficial Association has endorsed BHP Billiton’s proposed Cabrillo Port LNG terminal, describing the project as “a good idea” and “an essential energy development that requires the most highly skilled and trained personnel.” According to MEBA president Ron Davis, Cabrillo Port is “committed” to using Coast Guard licensed and credentialed mariners “who represent a largely untapped vital source of labor in an international LNG market that is otherwise suffering from a severe shortage of qualified mariners.” MEBA would like the presence of these mariners to be required on LNG vessels and the Cabrillo Port FSRU.
