Louisiana Legislator Welcomes Weaver’s Cove Project

Amid mounting public opposition against the proposed Weaver’s Cove terminal in Massachusetts, U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.) has invited Hess LNG, the project’s developer, to build the facility in his district in Louisiana. “The residents of Cameron Parish are receptive to the construction and operation of LNG terminals in their community,” Boustany said in a letter to Hess LNG president and CEO Gordon Shearer. “I urge you to consider locating (a terminal) in the region that welcomes and understands this critical energy supply.” Shearer said he appreciated Boustany’s offer, but added that LNG imported through Louisiana likely would not help reduce natural gas prices for New Englanders.
