FERC has issued an order initiating the NEPA pre-filing review for AES’ proposed Sparrows Point LNG project near Baltimore. “We believe that beginning the Commission’s review prior to our receipt of your application will greatly improve the chances of identifying specific project issues and addressing them in a timely manner,” said J. Mark Robinson, the Director of Energy Projects, in a letter dated today. Robinson also said that full participation by AES during the pre-filing process will increase the likelihood of FERC issuing a decision on the fate of the project by September 2007, as requested by the company. AES made the pre-filing request on March 24. Both letters are available in the FERC e-Library in Docket No. PF06-22.
