The Herald News today reports that State Sen. Joan Menard (D-Fall River) was selected to serve as co-chair of the 16-member commission created to study LNG issues affecting Massachusetts, including the Weaver’s Cove LNG project in Fall River. State Rep. Brian Dempsey (D-Haverhill) is the other co-chair, and Rep. Robert Correia (D-Fall River) will serve as vice president. “This means that the Greater Fall River, which obviously has a great deal of concern over this issue, will have Representative Correia and I guiding this commission and how the state of Massachusetts proceeds with the siting and use of LNG facilities,” Menard said after yesterday’s inaugural meeting.
