ConocoPhillips Holds Vendor Fair

As part of its pledge to give Alabama residents priority employment consideration, ConocoPhillips hosted a vendor fair to gauge contractors’ interest in the construction of the company’s proposed offshore Compass Port LNG facility. Approximately 50 area businesses attended the fair. “The purpose of this event is for them to get to know us and the project, and for us to learn about them and the services they can provide,” said Steve Lawless, manager of the permitting process for ConocoPhillips. “We’re assuming our application will be approved, and so we want to be prepared to hire Alabama contractors when that happens.” ConocoPhillips responded to critics’ environmental concerns raised by the project’s open-loop design by offering an economic incentives package that includes investing $100 million in Alabama companies during the terminal’s construction.
