Federal Agencies Issue FEIS for Main Pass LNG Project
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Maritime Administration issued the final environmental impact statement on Friday for McMoRan’s Main Pass Energy Hub LNG project, saying that the environmental impacts stemming from the construction and operation of the terminal would be minimal. “The publication of the Final EIS is a significant milestone as we near completion of the permitting process for our proposed major new LNG port,” McMoran’s Co-Chairmen James R. Moffett and Richard C. Adkerson said in a news release. “We look forward to completing our work with applicable federal and state agencies in a timely fashion.” The proposal calls for the terminal to be built on a former sulphur mining operation platform, located 38 miles east of Venice, La.
