Fall River Rep. Picked for LNG Commission
Today’s Herald News reports that Massachusetts State Rep. Robert Correia (D-Fall River) has been selected to serve as a member of the commission created to explore LNG issues impacting the state. Gov. Romney authorized the commission in early March. “I’m very happy about it because I was concerned about having someone from Fall River on the commission itself, and I know that there were a number of people seeking a seat on the commission,” Correia said. He acknowledged the state’s need for additional natural gas, but added that LNG terminals should be placed in appropriate locations. Correia expressed support for offshore siting, highlighting the stability of offshore terminals, as evidenced by the lack of impact Hurricane Katrina had on the offshore LNG terminal in the Gulf of Mexico.
