DOE Hosts Second LNG Educational Forum
In Astoria, Ore. yesterday, the U.S. Department of Energy hosted the second in a series of public educational forums on LNG. Industry experts offered presentations on various issues such as the growing natural gas market, the siting process for onshore LNG terminals and the safety and security risks of LNG. The forums, which are mandated by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, are intended to “raise public awareness and promote dialogue,” said James Slutz, deputy assistant secretary at the DOE’s Office of Oil and Natural Gas. There are currently four terminals projects proposed near the Columbia River. Details of the event are in yesterday’s Daily Astorian.
