High LNG Prices in Europe Lure Shipments Away From U.S

Speaking at a Reuters-sponsored conference on regulation, FERC Chairman Joseph Kelliher said today that U.S. LNG terminals are operating at less than full capacity because high natural gas prices have caused energy companies to divert cargoes from the United States to Europe. He attributes the trend partly to policies in Spain that assure LNG providers a premium relative to the current U.S. rate. An article published today by Reuters News has details.
