Freeport-McMoRan Confident of Approval and Long-Term Supply Contracts for Main Pass LNG

The vice president of Freeport-McMoRan Energy says he expects to learn by May the status of the company’s deepwater port application for the Main Pass Energy Hub LNG terminal and storage facility offshore Louisiana. David Landry also dismisses speculation that the company is having difficulty securing long-term supply contracts, adding that “there is uncommitted supply by virtue of the expansion plans of Qatar and Gazprom.” The project is expected to come online in 2009.
