Fall River Residents Respond to FERC’s Decision on Weaver’s Cove

Some residents near the proposed site for an LNG facility at Weaver’s Cove have indicated that they will seek alternative housing options in light of FERC’s decision to authorize Hess LNG to build a terminal nearby. Citing concerns for safety, insurance rates and property values, and complaining that the city should have purchased the property in order to prevent its development, longtime residents are considering selling their homes, including accepting an offer from Hess LNG for “20 percent more than market value.” Yesterday’s Herald News highlights some residents’ concerns.
