Energy Secretary Bodman Confident Diverted LNG Cargoes Won’t Affect U.S. Supply
Emphasizing the fact that LNG currently is a relatively small percentage of the overall U.S. gas supply, Secretary of Energy Sam Bodman indicated he is not worried about the possibility that higher European natural gas prices would draw many LNG vessels to Europe as opposed to the U.S. Bodman also noted that a majority of the shipments that diverted to Europe during the summer of 2005, were spot cargoes and not under contract for a specific U.S. import terminal.
