Wrong Reasons for Pursuit of LNG Development in Maine

An engineer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology says Passamaquoddy Bay LNG plans exist for reasons other than the ones mentioned in a Dec. 10 opinion piece published by the Bangor Daily News. Cliff Goudey says developers are targeting Washington County, Maine for LNG development because the region “is viewed as desperately in need of jobs and economic development.” He also says that FERC assessment process does not accommodate non-U.S. citizens, many of whom live near the proposed sites.
